any info on Garmin 90 fish finder where does the transducer fit what is their general performance like.?
hi, it is also used to find depth of the water so that I can spot rocks ETC.

when you buy the kit it comes supplied with a transducer.
you can specify if you want a through hull which means that you have to make a hole in the bottom of your boat and fit the receiver into it. obviously this is a “leak potential”.
advantage is it does,nt pick up interference from the boat engine.
what is normally supplied as standard is a transducer that fits on to the stern of your boat. you screw it onto the hull on the waterline and silicone the screw holes.
disadvantage is that when the boat is travelling at certain speeds the backwash of the prop interferes with the reading and the screen freezes until you throttle back.
to be honest though this only happens at high revs.
all in all it is easier to fit the transducer to the stern, you get the same reading when you are drifting or just cruising to find the rocks and marks.
i had a garmin 90 when i first started out but now have a 160C .
it is a good basic model that will get you started, the only thing i did,nt like was the smaller screen.
it will do just what you ask.
when you get used to it no doubt you will upgrade
