I have a 23ft boat brand Scout Abaco 222. The motor is a Yamaha 200 with two batteries, a fish and depth finder, marine radio, and a Furuno radar system with 36 nautical mile range.
I sail out of Bodega Bay all of the time in boats smaller than that, it’s totally safe. The biggest issue is always the weather. ALWAYS check the small craft advisory from the National Weather Service for the Monterrey area (that’s your area) at the following site:
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mtr/
Just click on the map to get the weather in that area, and avoid rough seas, not only for safety reasons, but because getting bumped around in a boat does not make for a whole lot of fun. Also, always double check your fuel, have a spare radio (i.e. a handheld), tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back. Know your basic navigation rules (i.e. right of way/underwater obstacles/treacherous currents i.e under the Golden Gate bridge) and try to sail with someone who has already been to where you are going. And always wear your life vest.
It sounds like you got a nice boat. Get to know it well, and try to sail with some experienced hands, and you’ll have alot of fun.
